Kumori Basic Concept Ref

UPDATE 9/16/12 Her new, revised design. Her final ref is coming soon though! This has so many mistakes.... But I did update her bio. Excuse any errors, in writing, I am half asleep, using wordpad, and don't reread ANYTHING./end update

Meant to upload this last night, but dA was being a bitch about it. This is Kumori without all of her accessories and scars. She be's so cute.

This was rushed, so I didn't have time to mess with anatomical errors. OTL And I see a few...


I really need to do another reference, but at this rate, I may not get to it tonight.... And I PROMISED. ;A;

Personality: Optimistic, annoying, devious, odd, talkative, destructive, wary, clumsy, sarcastic, hypocrite, distrusting , stalker-ish, short-tempered, lock-jaw, kleptomaniac, pyromaniac, paranoid.
Bio: Kortney Kumori was born from a family of wealthy, shapeshifting dragons. Her father and mother, Kurozoni and Kinari, never informed her of this for her own safety. Her family only wished to live normal, human lives due to the killing off of shapeshifters or anything deemed unatural.

Kumori's father "disappeared" when she was only two, he was assumed dead but no body was recovered from the accident that occured in the lab he worked in. It was never mention to her, so she concluded that he no longer cared about them and moved on, but a shred of her held on to the idea that something horrible happened and he was only absent until he could get back.

Only a year later, Kumori's mother was soon married to another man and they had a daughter, named Mei. Kortney did not approve of her new father and never accepted his last name to be hers. She soon discovered a stone encased in a special tube, that was located in her father's studies, and she kept it for her own.

The night her parents brought her sister home for the first time really upset Kumori and she ran into her room and grabbed the stone, not wanting to think of anything but things returning to how they used to be, and a dark, eerie voice spoke to her through the stone, tell her to take it out and use its power to fix everything. Falling for it, she took the stone from it's pressurized container and touched it's cold, red surface in her palms; a sudden rush of energy ran through her body, turning her into a large dragon. It was black and gray, like the shadows, with a fire on the tip of its tail, and large fangs. The beast was unable to turn into his complete form, due to her age, but was able to posess her body, actions, emotions, everything. She barged through the home, destroying everything, and anything, to get to her horrible step-father. All she could do was watch through her eyes as the demon pulverized him, the horror on her mother's face forever engraved into her mind, and finished him with a sling of her spiney tail, cutting his head clean off.

Little did she know, some sort of demon fox was watching from a distance, he all he wanted was the power of the dragon that had been unleashed from the stone. He arrived at the scene just as the dragon shifted her back to her human form, the soul of the dragon now residing within her own. Assuming it was Kinari who posessed the power, he grabbed her throat with his demonic fangs, taking her soul from her body. To not leave evidence, he took her souless body. Weak, and beginning to black-out from the pain of shifting forms and surge of such strength, Kumori could only lie on the ground and watch him escape.

Kortney awoke hours later, the sun shinning, birds chirping, to see only her little sister left in the rubble that was once called home. She new that she was too young to take care of Mei, so she dropped her off at a hospital's ER with only a card with the name "Mei Kinsei" scribbled on it.

Afterwards, Kumori set out to find a place to live. She remembered about her family's secret home hidden in the forrest outside the city. Upon finding it, she settled in, where she found a homeless girl named Sai, living inside. Sai was a runaway who was lucky enough to find an empty home with running water, electricity, and an open window. Kortney only agreed to letting her stay if she would help her with her schemes, and they quickly became the best of friends.

Five years later, Kumori was returning home from a trip to the grocery store when, out of nowhere, a small flash of orange zipped out of the bushes and clamped down on her right hand. It stung quite a bit for being a animal bite, only because his fangs were filled with a strange venom used for infecting prey that causes them to go insane and turns blood hard and black. She looked down to find a small, orange fox-like creature with two horns sticking off his head. It watched, as if waiting for her to faint, but it had absolutely no affect, but instead left a piece of him in her body, that will later on allow him to make her go insane and harden her blood. She did notice that her blood looked oddly dark, but she brushed it off as nothing. His blood having no affect on her astounded him, instantly forming a bond with her, he began mimicking her speech and movements, thus how he got the name Ekko.

Kumori attended school, got an education, and now has her dream job as a meteorologist. She trains herself everyday to keep the demon within from surfacing too much and to control her powers. She awaits the day when she actually has a purpose in the world, but until then she uses her powers for more mischevous things, like theiving, practical jokes, doing small favors for people, and anything to benefit her status and be noticed.
